Was thinking about writing this week's ago but listening to this pod convinced me to write. It is time to retire lick face. Maybe not forever. The thing is, it has served you well but it is kind of lost it's humor / relevance and the explanation, as you said, is not great. You even feel a bit bad about it and Mike does not like saying it. But the real reason... Daryl gave you the perfect replacement: you know, cap space. Same number of syllables and space rhymes with face. Same flow, a bit of an callback to lick face but also something new, for a new season filled with perhaps more hope than any since the process began. Daryl gifted the jersey, I know he would approve of this and almost seems like appropriate punishment for Mike to be saying it every pod. The jersey is not really punishment / or compensation for doubting cap space as a strategy. Anyway, you could do it for the start of this coming season, or start right away, but just fits too well, makes too much sense, fits the large narrative ark of the pod and while the picks have been talked about as a part of the process forever, the cap space created by tear downs has been neglected. Hope you agree. Not a sixers fan, a fan of Embiid, who brought me to you all during his rookie year.
