The Opening Tip
Hello and Happy Thursday, it's the Corner Three!
It's like all they needed was icing for the cake, but instead of icing they used orange juice.
The Sixers front office is now only 98.9% the same as 2 months ago when upheaval and deep diving was promised, so things are looking up!
RIP Klaus Hinkie De Paula Embiid
Shoutout to NBA Champion Dion Waiters
Let's get into it!
STAY WARM WITH STATESIDE
It's going to be chilly this weekend. Winter is coming. Just get yourself this Stateside 1.75 litre magnum bottle. They've got Philly delivery and pickup at their website, and you can also get MAGNUM at Fine Wine & Spirits and all those spots in Jersey and Delaware. Shout out to Kelly, Tyler, JP, Andrew and Lexie who were last week's Zo t-shirt winners. If you're reading this, you're registered for this week. Just make sure you open the newsletter every week to be registered.
This Week In The Pod
We are closing in on 2,000 YouTube subscribers. You can watch the Ricky full shows, and then we pull clips just about every day. Subscribe here.
While it may feel like we know alot about Doc Rivers, it doesn't hurt to do a deep dive (!!!) Last night Spike & Mike welcomed former Celtics front office member and Suns GM Ryan McDonough, talked possible Doc staff addition, and....ANOTHER book. It's action packed and all here!
A Spike AMA! The guys also get into a Jimmy Butler debate (number 999 if you're keeping count) and discuss the sports take economy, overrated foods and offer some heartfelt goodbyes to two Process Pups.
We've hit our goal of $10,000 raised for this year's Bark In The Park team, but we'd feel like a bunch of losers if we passed the goal and then just stopped. We've got eight days left.
You can donate right here. We'd appreciate it. Or you can still join the team right here, and if you raise $50, you get the sweet shirt to the left thanks to LL Pavorsky and Big Barker Dog Beds.
The Covid era has been tough on everyone, but especially non-profits, and especially ones like Providence that raise so much money with events, that they can't do now. So donate if you can, join and run (or walk or lie) and get the shirt.
Oh Yeah,The Sixers
Front Office Movement!! (Sort of)
The long national nightmare is over. Phil Jabour is no longer a member of the Philadelphia 76ers organization. Jabour worked his way throughout the Sixers scouting department since the Hinkie era and is off to be VP of player personnel for the Kings. Honestly, it's probably greener pastures so good for Phil. Joke's on us (again).
Doc on Netflix!
The Playbook, a Netflix series that details and interviews coaches with championship resumes features our very own, Doc Rivers. The 30 minute vignette covers a bit of Doc's life off the court and his motivation and philosophy while patrolling the sidelines. The show is about championship culture so there's obviously a ton of Celtics footage, but if you can get past that it actually is some great insight into Doc and how he approaches life and his basketball team.
P.S. North Philly native, Olympic gold medalist, Fit Goddess and South Carolina Women's basketball coach, Dawn Staley has her own episode as well so I highly recommend checking that one out too.
On the draft:
Cole Anthony? Cole Anthony. An ACC source (my cousin who loves UNC basketball) tells the Corner Three that Anthony's Tar Heel tenure had a little bit of everything and then some. He battled through a nagging knee injury and brutally down year for the team overall but still showed why some scouts remain high on him. He's insanely quick in space with the ball in his hand, has a stepback jumper that he's not afraid to use, and brings it every single night. He's a very willing three point shooter but his percentage dipped a bit toward the end of the year when he was personally trying to shoot his team back into games.
I don't suspect he lasts until 21 but wouldn't mind if he did!

The Rest From The Best
Mike O'Connor know basketball and apparently, food as well! Our guy ranked the 12 most Overrated foods, courageously. Personally, I'm fond of his number one ranked here but understand the take, and would add wheat bread to this list. It's awful. So bad. Brought to you by the great Touchstone Electric Fireplaces (code TTP for 15% off), and our official pet foot, and By Nature Slow Cooked with Superfusion Pet Food (use code RTRS20 at Chewy).
He's baaaack, Andrew Unterberger took a break from pessimistic AU and brought back retrospective AU and allowed us to once again, talk about Jimmy Butler, who raised his game and his reputation league-wide to a whole new level during a valiant finals run. Brought to you by Kinetic Skateboarding.
If you missed Doc Rivers' introductory press conference we gotyou covered. Our little dude, Sixers Adam, touched on coaching up Jo & Ben and a few more goodies from Doc's intro. Brought to you by Adam Ksebe, the Process Realtor.
