The Opening Tip
Hello and Happy Thursday!, It's the Corner Three!
Welcome Back Jo
Oh Yeah, The Sixers
5 Questions!!!
Let's Rock
1. Will the Sixers ever catch their pre-half the team catches Covid magic?
All signs point to no, unfortunately. More than just the cohesion and general likability of the team, guys like Furkan Korkmaz and Andre Drummond were playing above their skill levels. Both have since plummeted to earth's core and sometimes when Shake Milton shoots it looks like he's heaving a medicine ball at the fucking rim.
2. How awesome has Maxey been? Which if we're honest, is all that matters.
He's been great, and started to turn the ball over which science says is a sign he's getting better or whatever. I generally love just about everything he's doing but I do wonder how long it will take him and Joel Embiid to reignite things. Maxey was the primary on offense for almost a solid month. With Tobias and Embiid back in the lineup he's looked out of sorts and sometimes just bad. He's found his confidence without them and should look to keep it, but it shouldn't be alone. Paging Doc/Cassell.
3. Seems like the bench issues are rearing their ugly ass head again, any thoughts of recent?
New year, same story and honestly one that predates the Morey front office. There are good parts but they are only good on one end of the court and eventually if they aren't offset by guys who are competent on both ends, this season will look alot like past ones.
4. The Drummond experience seems to already be coming to a head. What is your outlook?
They could have done more. Or should have done more to sure that position up. He's only good at a few things and he doesn't even try to do those things often. He moves like he has a sack of bricks tied to him and we're so fucked man. Otherwise all good.
5. How good are the Sixers?
A healthy Embiid nets a top 6 seed and as currently constituted they are probably no worse than that. I do think that STILL depends on what the Ben return looks like. The East is packed to the brim so the room for error just isn't there this year and one has to wonder just how long Daryl Morey will let this play out before finally playing his biggest chip. In reality though, Embiid is gonna take some time to find his rhythm again on offense, the rest of the team looks like shells of themselves for far too many stretches, Tobias Harris fucking sucks but other than that how was the play Mrs. Lincoln.
The Rest From The Best
Tyrese Maxey is in many forms, one of the Sixers only hopes in playing at a quicker pace. He'll need to be way more aggressive than he was against Minnesota.
Compounded by Andre Drummond being awful is that his passes are breathtaking in that they either are marvelous or suck. Andrew Unterberger takes us for a ride.
