The Opening Tip
Hello & Happy Friday - It's the Corner Three!
Oh Yeah, The Sixers
Coming into last night I'm not quite sure any of us knew just what was up Daryl Morey's front office's sleeve but man, talk about pleasant surprise. The worst kept secret these past 10 days had to have been how the Sixers were less interested in a young(er) player from the draft and more interested in instant help. Couple that with the now usual Tobias Harris and Matisse Thybulle chatter and you got yourself some piping hot tea.
Fast forward to literally every possible name linked to the Sixers being snatched up before 23 and you have a nice bit of drama, and then it happened. Danny Green, the 23rd pick to Memphis for DeAnthony Melton. Daryl you wizard.
I see no downside. Melton is 24, coming off 2 years as an extremely important part of a team that is a rock solid contender in the West, isn't the big physical wing we are still looking for but can dribble, defend, shoot and frankly, is a DAWG. Also doesn't hurt that he's under team control for the next 2 seasons.
The next time we talk it'll be the start of NBA free agency and an opportunity I'm sure to download what the next few days of rumors have looked like.
