In my world 76ers basketball at this point is about beating Boston. As such I didn't want George because I don't think he has it in him to help us beat the Celtics. Done. Next. But...then you make the point of how much an upgrade he is over Tobias and now I can see that he's a step in the right direction so OK...I'm on board. But we need some Boston killers. Do the exist? Are there guys that play really well against them? Who are they? Let's get them all.

George last played 70 games 5 years ago. Finally did again this year on a contract year. Giant red flags are waving in the air. Would rather take Derozan for less years and money hope he takes and makes more 3's with Embiid around him. We know he will play hard and show up.

Maybe teams should make roster moves by polling the fans, since they know players better than anyone. Would save lots of money in executive salaries

It’s not a like for like analogy, but do you remember how many bad things we heard about Oubre (especially from Warriors fans) when we signed him? You never know how a player responds to being in a different place with a new head coach and teammates.

I’m personally not a fan of signing him for a 4 year deal, but it all depends on how Morey and Brand fill out the rest of the roster.

He won’t accept being a third option. Then he will force his way out and another season will be lost trying to get rid of a disaffected “star”.

He is currently a third option.

It's pretty obvious he'd be coming here as the third option. If he does sign for us, his role won't be a surprise

Great piece and allays some of my concerns.

I get that Philly isn't a glamorous, destination city. But PG is a multimillionaire in his 30s with a family. Living in a mansion on the Main Line for a few years during the season isn't exactly a horrible situation.
