One Time Only: Get Your Weird Ricky Questions Answered
Plus, more Reasonable Sixers Expectations from Zo -- this time about a returning fan favorite.
Mike seems to be taking this offseason harder than any other, as he remarks almost every podcast how much longer we have until there are Sixers games again. So I shouldn’t have been stunned when he said what he said, but I was.
In Wednesday night/Thursday morning’s pod, Mike suggested a one-time-only opportunity for people to ask us about weird Ricky references, sayings, inside jokes, etc… and we will explain them on a one-time-only podcast. So if there’s something we say that you don’t understand, or something we keep bringing up that is puzzling, you can ask us, and we’ll answer.
I was truly stunned. I said, “you know who isn’t going to approve of this?” “AU,” he answered correctly.
So, here is your chance. On August 28th, we’ll do that podcast, so you have to get your questions in ASAP. The two best ways to do it are:
Email: rightstorickysanchez@gmail.com
Voicemail: 833-LICKFACE (you can leave off the last E for savings)
Substack: you can leave your question as a comment on this thread
The sooner you get them in, the better, in case we don’t remember what you’re talking about and need to talk it through. We’ll answer as many as we can, unless AU sneaks into one of our houses and cuts the internet line.
Can’t believe we’re doing this. Don’t miss out.
ZO’S CORNER: REASONABLE SIXERS EXPECTATIONS, PT. 3: ANDRE DRUMMOND
10. Personality
Drummond is well known throughout the league not just for his rebounding prowess but also for his easy going demeanor, always nice to have a guy who’s cool as a fan and also doesn’t take himself too seriously.
9. Some throwback hoops
For better or worse, his odd career arc is pretty much based around being a bit more traditional than most of today's centers.
8. 1 or 10 funny ass moments
Guaranteed.
7. 1 0r 10 incredibly frustrating moments
Also guaranteed.
6. Familiar face
After summer No. 99 of roster upheaval, it will be good to have a guy who is somewhat aware of his surroundings.
5. Another integral puzzle piece for Nick Nurse
Isn’t that really all that matters?
4. A true backup
More important than anything, really
3. A willing defender
I said willing… willing.
2. A semi offensive threat
Finishing at the rim remains a bit of an anomaly at times but he's definitely improved there over the years.
1. A Goddamn Rebounder
For a team so sorely lacking in that department, what better way to compensate than adding literally one of the best rebounders in league history.
I’ve been listening to the pod since 2017, and I still have no idea of the origin of lickface.
